Shauna Hunter, Board Member

Shauna has extensive experience in human services and non-profit productivity. She has been a community advocate for women of Domestic Violence, women transitioning from prison and suicide prevention in Muskegon County for many years. Before accepting the executive director position at Pathfinders, the past three years of her career has been serving as the site coordinator at Pathfinders where she has formed many relationships with participants and community leaders, while implementing many ideas that contributed to the youth programming and day to day productivity. Her tenure at Pathfinders also includes establishing a social media marketing campaign that gave Pathfinders a platform and presence online while connecting with the community.

Before starting her career at Pathfinders, Shauna worked 12 years at the Muskegon Family YMCA serving as the Director of Christian Emphasis and Social Responsibility. In that role she assisted with income-based programs, implemented a day of prayer, prayer walk, volunteer department, the M.O.V.E (Making Overt Violence End) March, and many ministries within the outreach platform. Shauna also taught youth classes, assisted with youth zone, and supervised day to day front desk operations. She also served as the child abuse prevention training instructor, YMCA Certified Diabetes Prevention life coach and Certified Red Cross Babysitting youth training instructor, and created an anti-bullying program that was used for youth outreach and development. Shauna was a contracted worker for the Grand Haven YMCA and employed by the Grand Rapids David D. Hunting YMCA as well. For the past 5 years, Shauna has been the site coordinator of the Muskegon YMCA Evening Recreation Program (Open Gym) at Muskegon High School that serves 200 plus youth daily during the summer. She has used this program to engage many organizations and community members with urban youth in Muskegon County.

Shauna serves on the ministerial staff at Antioch Baptist Church which is located in the Muskegon Heights Community. She also serves as a local-based missionary in Muskegon and has her own ministry S.P.A.R.K.L.E (Servant, Positive, Astute, Radiant, Kind, Loving and Exceptional for Christ) that is dedicated to uplifting women. An independent business consultant for Paparazzi Jewelry, all jewelry sales benefit her S.P.A.R.K.L.E Ministry. Shauna has coined the phrase, “sparkle wherever you go!”

Prior board affiliation include the Parent Advisory board for the Muskegon Teen Health Center and she currently serves on the Muskegon Public Schools Poppen Music & Fine Arts Scholarship board. She is dedicated to the growth of Muskegon County youth and families. Shauna’s personal goal is to continue her personal development in order to expand community engagement and implement new programming to benefit the total wellness of every child and family that crosses her path. Shauna lives by two mottos: “It’s never a bad day, only bad circumstances”, and “I don’t need the spotlight, I just want to be a light in the spot.”
